Mrs. Abigail Fishbourne


Mrs Fishbourne has been working is education for over 25 years. During this time she taught in all primary years and has taken many varied leadership roles including head of a junior school in Abu Dhabi and head of a British school that was recognised as the most improved in the country. 

She has been involved in delivering a wide variety of staff training and introduced educational programs across both primary and secondary phases. As a believer in developing lifelong learners, she is committed to providing 21st century education, creativity and innovation in her schools.

Mrs Fishbourne has worked with educational groups including local authority, a British national academy group, an education charity and a teacher training course at a British university. 

She is keen to further develop The Pearl’s positive learning ethos and ensure it remains as one of the most successful schools in Abu Dhabi. 

“I am happily married with three children. Together we love music, the arts, travel and many sporting activities. During my working life it has been a pleasure sharing my interests with the children and families at my schools through enriched exciting curriculums that engage children in their learning. Mrs. Katherine Foulger

Deputy Principal

Mrs. Foulger has gained 18 years of teaching experience across EYFS, Key Stages One, Two and Three in a variety of public schools in the United Kingdom. Having initially started her teaching career as a class teacher in a small rural school she went on to become a lead teacher in Key stage 2 and was later promoted to Head of Key Stage.  She has been released on secondment to take up the position of Assistant Head and has supported a number of schools in achieving outstanding in their Ofsted inspections. She has resided on Senior Leadership Teams in several schools and has been recognised by the local authority as a leading senior practitioner. Mrs Foulger has been acknowledged by the National Education Trust for her hard work and commitment to education. 

She has worked for Aldar Acadmeies for 4 years, during this time, she has been Interim Principal for The Pearl Academy and has been seconded to support the Academies newest school, West Yas, in its inaugural year.  As chair for Aldar Academies Senior leadership team and as a qualified BSME Inspector, she has visited schools across the Emirates and in the Middle East offering guidance and support in many areas; to include teaching and learning, leadership and assessment.

Mrs Foulger is a very approachable, friendly person who is always available to talk with parents, colleagues and children alike, regarding any matters that may arise.  She is fully committed to supporting Mrs Fishbourne and the school community as a whole to fulfil its vision, ethos and policies, whilst ensuring the pupils receive invaluable experiences in a stimulating and challenging environment. 


Mrs. Huma Raza

Assistant Principal

Mrs. Raza joined The Pearl Academy in September 2016 as the Assistant Principal. She is passionate about integrating technology into the curriculum and has led many professional learning sessions for staff and has presented at education shows in the Middle East. 

Mrs. Raza trained to be a primary school teacher in the UK, she has 11 years of experience across both primary key stages and has a Masters in Education Leadership and Management where she studied the benefits of Teacher Leadership, she is committed to developing leadership within all staff. 

At The Pearl Academy, Mrs. Raza leads on the delivery of the National Curriculum and works with our teachers to create inquiry based units of learning. 

Prior to leaving the UK, Mrs. Raza has worked in 3 different schools where she has led the delivery of Information Communication Technology as well as Assessment. 

Mrs. Raza is a dedicated member of the schools Senior Leadership Team, she fully supports the vision of the school alongside the Principal and Deputy Principal.


Mrs. Sharon Barr

Head of Inclusion

Mrs. Barr began her teaching career twenty five years ago in Portsmouth, UK.  Since then, she has worked in several countries in the Middle East, including Saudi Arabia and Kuwait. Mrs Barr also worked as a volunteer teacher in Sudan, where she taught classes in a village with no electricity or running water, so she is extremely appreciative of the wonderful facilities at The Pearl! Whilst working as a class teacher in Key Stage One and Key Stage Two, Mrs Barr developed a particular interest in children with specific learning differences and undertook further studies in this area. She now leads the Inclusion department at The Pearl, the aim of which is to ensure that all children achieve their very best.

Mrs. Maha Jallad

Head Of Islamic Education

I am originally Jordanian, but was born and raised in the UAE. I hold a Bachelor’s degree of Science from Al Yarmouk University, Jordan, as well as a Bachelor of Education in Arabic Language and Islamic Studies from Alhosn University, UAE.

I have more than 25 years of experience in teaching and leadership, which I gained through working in different British curriculum schools in the UAE. This has enabled me to develop my skills in implementing meaningful learning experiences for children.

I joined The Pearl Academy in its second year in 2008. It has been a great pleasure to witness the growth and success of the school as the years have progressed. Joining the Pearl was my choice to further develop myself and my career, and it has been a pleasure to work and grow in such a nurturing environment.

I am always keen to further my own knowledge and development to enhance the student's learning experience.

Mrs. Muna Abu Safi

Head of Arabic Language

I am originally Jordanian, I hold a Bachelor’s degree of Arabic literature from the University of Jordan, Jordan and a Master degree of Education from Liverpool Hope University- UK

I have 16 years of teaching experience with several educational firms in both Jordan and the United Arab Emirates, where I have been teaching Arabic. During this time I have had experience of teaching children in primary schools. 

I have been working in the role of Arabic teacher and Arabic Leader at Aldar Academics for almost 10 years now, and enjoyed my time working in Aldar Academies. The experience I have gained through working for Aldar Academics has given me the chance to achieve a high level teaching career which helped me to meet my targets, on a personal and team level, as well as developing the quality of my teaching and learning. I have achieved this through interaction with a multicultural team of teachers and pupils. I have created a professional and affectionate relationship with colleagues, pupils, and parents and I am always keen to further my own knowledge and development to enhance the student's learning experience.
