Dr. Darran Specter PhD, CFA, MEng, ACGI

Chair

Dr. Specter is a British national and has lived with his wife and three children in Abu Dhabi for five years, working as a Senior Investment Manager. Previously, he lived and worked in London for institutional investors such as the pension fiduciary manager Cardano and a Hedge Fund boutique within Schroders, where he specialized in investment due diligence, portfolio management, quantitative analysis and risk management. Dr. Specter is a holder of the CFA (Chartered Financial Analyst) designation and has his PhD and MEng from Imperial College London in Electrical Engineering. When not working he enjoys spending time with his family.

Dina Allaf

Dina Allaf is a Lebanese national who graduated from the American University of Beirut with a Bachelor degree in business. She was born in Abu Dhabi and lived here all her life. She worked as an Oracle Presales Manager in a leading IT firm in Abu Dhabi for nine (9) years and was responsible for ERP solutions. After which she led an event company for kids for two (2) years. She spent her last working years in an education foundation where she was the Business Manager for the schools and was responsible for all non academic functions. Over the five years she spent at the Pearl she grew very fond of the school and saw all the good things it provides. She care so much about the kids and would love to contribute positivity in any way. She is a mother of 2 wonderful kids which is now in FS1 and year 3 at the Pearl Primary School LLC.

Yousif Alkhoori

Eng. Yousif Ahmed Alkhoori has been a Business Development Advisor for H.E. the Chairman Office in Abu Dhabi Department of Education and Knowledge since September 2015. He serves as a Quality, Excellence and Strategy Advisor.  He has been an indispensable asset, leading the organisation to adapt quality and excellence concepts.  
Prior to that, he worked at the Abu Dhabi Municipality after it merged with the Public Works department in 2006. He has managed many challenging projects and has also established the Quality and Corporate Excellence Division at the Abu Dhabi Municipality before moving to ADEK in 2013.

Eng. Alkhoori has been granted several awards and certifications. He was recognised by Sheikh Ahmed Bin Saeed AlMaktoom in April 2009 for becoming a certified member of the Suggestion Systems from IDEAS ARABIA. He has also received the prestigious Employee Involvement Association certification. 

He also became a Member of the Steering Committee for issuing the ISO26000 standard-2010 (Social Responsibility) in the Emirates Authority for Standardization and Metrology. 
Eng. Alkhoori holds a Master Degree in Quality and Excellence Management with distinction from Wollongong University, Australia and a B.Sc. in Civil Engineering in two areas - Structure and Transportation, from Vanderbilt University in Tennessee, United States.

Sona Agrawal

Sona joined the Governing body as a parent governor at the start of the 2017 -2018 academic year. During her career spanning over a decade, Sona has previously worked for KPMG Corporate Finance and is now working with the Planning Unit of ADNOC Upstream. She has a daughter currently in Year 4 and would like to support the school’s initiative in ensuring that all children reach their full potential.

Gordon Stewart

Gordon leads Aldar Academies’ information technology department and manages business transformation initiatives in support of Aldar Academies’ purpose, promise and values.
Gordon started his professional career in the British Army before moving into the commercial realm, where he initially worked for an IBM dealership, supplying IT solutions to companies in England. This led to various project management positions with multi-national companies and fourteen years at KPMG in The Netherlands and USA - primarily on large multinational business process change projects. A move to a Dubai based global education provider, in 2013, continued the focus on the adoption of world class business processes, enabling the digital transformation of services, and supporting school administrative and educational leadership. 

Working with Aldar Academies since 2018, Gordon is now focused on supporting the schools in delivering a world class education, within a sustainable, innovative, and efficient operational business model. 

Gordon has post-graduate qualifications in Computing and Business, including an MBA from ENPC (Paris). He’s currently studying for a doctorate in business administration (DBA) with the University of Liverpool, focusing on organisational change management related to the adoption of new business processes. He’s also a Chartered IT Practitioner and Member of the British Computer Society.
